Ron K. Cheng - AttorneyPhone: 971-770-2053
E-mail: [email protected] Ron is a trial lawyer that has dedicated his career to helping people. Born in Portland, Oregon; he was raised by immigrant parents from Taiwan. Although his parents didn't know a lot about the law, they knew a lot about treating people right and they passed on to him the most important lesson any lawyer could learn: that the duty of every person is to protect the dignity of everyone. Ron is the first lawyer in his family. When he started practicing law, he quickly realized how insurance companies and big corporations would take advantage of working class families. Ron strongly believes that those who are harmed deserve to have their dignity restored or compensated for – especially when their injuries are a result of corporate greed or reckless indifference to the poor, disabled, and other vulnerable populations. In a generation when most lawyers have never tried a case in front of a jury, Ron takes great pride in not being afraid of the courtroom. In 2018, he became one of the youngest lawyers in Oregon to get an unanimous seven figure verdict. Ron has been consistently named a Rising Star with SuperLawyers since 2017 and he is considered one of the top 10 personal injury attorneys under 40 years old. He was recognized by the American Bar Association as one of the top client counselors in the nation and he holds a record in being one of the youngest lawyers in the Pacific Northwest to receive an unanimous jury verdict in excess of one million dollars. In 2020, Ron was named the Young Lawyer of the Year by the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association. Ron also spends a significant amount of time volunteering and teaching. He mentors several college students, law students, and young lawyers. He also teaches a graduate level course on legal jurisprudence and medical malpractice at the National University of Naturopathic Medicine. For his service to the community, Ron was presented with Lewis & Clark Law School’s Mentor of the Year Award; presented with the Community Spirit Award at the Lewis & Clark Distinguished Alumni Dinner; and was further recognized by the Oregon State Bar ONLD with the Public Service Award. In 2023, Ron was honored with the Oregon State Bar's Diversity and Inclusion Award for his commitment in representing and growing diverse communities. Ron serves as a member of the Oregon State Bar House of Delegates and as a Board Member of the Oregon Trial Lawyer Association. Ron's full CV is available upon request for professional purposes. |
